First look: The Casquette Crowdsourced Jersey

The Casquette jersey – designed by you – is finally here…

After months of research, lots of healthy debate and tons of commentary from you guys across social media on colourways, pockets and material choices, the Casquette jersey is finally here, and just in time for summer.

The final garment features all the things you asked us for, including a classic monochrome colourway, extra-large and accessible pockets for essential ride stash, performance wicking and anti-bacterial fabric (meaning less surface sweat and whiff), plus comfort-fit sleeves.

There’s also extra motivation for your ride buddies through the careful positioning of our #JFDI mantra on the back.

Here, we share some of the snaps documenting its miraculous conception.

Where it all started…
Rallying together women’s cycling ambassadors from various walks of cycling life, we used our favourite-ever jerseys as conversation starters for what the Casquette jersey simply HAD to feature… then lubricated proceedings with Beavertown and gin.

The creative crew
On hand for the jersey workshop were (from left to right) Rebecca Charlton (commentator, presenter and former sprint racer), Danielle Welton (Casquette founder), Ed Cowburn (designer and Milltag founder), Emily Chappell (ultra-endurance rider), Jenni Gwiazdowski (mechanic and founder of London Bike Kitchen) and Alex Davies (Look Mum No Hands social and events coordinator - behind the camera).

Questioning the cut
Being a former racer, Rebecca Charlton (brandishing the red jersey in this shot), was keen on an aero-cut sleeve, but when we put it out to you guys, the consensus was for a more relaxed fit. Because of that, we went with extra stretch in our sleeves. Sorry, Rebecca!

Pocket rockets
The pockets led to a lot of debate, with Emily Chappell (centre) gunning for enough room to pack a baguette, an iPhone and a small army. When we put it out to the Casquette audience, there was a general appreciation for space for stash, plus a zip for valuables.

We included extra-large rear pockets, a hidden zipped valuables pocket, plus we’ve factored in a reflective strip under the pockets. We love what you have created and hope you do, too.
